Arisia was muchly good. Now, I am very over-peopled and tired! (and also miss [livejournal.com profile] metahacker and [livejournal.com profile] galaneia, with whom I spent lots of Arisia, plus everyone else I saw not enough of, like [livejournal.com profile] deyo and [livejournal.com profile] mactavish) Also, I did _not_ get enough cuddling, probably because I was not staying _still_ enough. Got lots Sun night and Mon morn, though, which helped immensely.

Also, I need to go through my college options and figure out which make sense to try applying to at the end of the year.

And also start packing for April's move. Boxes. Everyone give me boxes!

And probably should start looking at financial aid things, for timing of such.

Investigating a weighted blanket whose weight is better distributed.

And also, I am totally going to get a pretty dragon made for me by the same person from whom I got my crazy feathery hair falls. And if she does gryphons, perhaps a gryphon.

I think I need to go add to my to-do list before I go crazy. ;)

I win the internet! Or something.

"Today we have received your positive skill assessment certificate. Your skills have been assessed to be suitable for migration under the ASCO code: 2231-15 Computer Professional (Software Designer).

Your Advisor will be in touch with you shortly to inform you on how we will be proceeding from here."

(not that I have any idea why I got labeled software designer instead of software tester)

Now, to start the Visa application process...

(why do I have no icon equivalent of 'YES!'?)

So. Sleepy.

I would really like this rash of lack of sunlight to stop. Also, I would like the rain to _happen_, rather than just taunt everyone by being all cloudy and misty.

Trying one ativan at bedtime and one when I wake up stupidly early sorta works. Except that I needed to be up before the second ativan had quite finished its job. This made for a very difficult morning, not helped by lack of sunlight.

Light box is coming out tonight. Dammit. It's not even my birthday yet, I should _NOT_ need the light box!

*decides that Boston is trying to encourage her to leave, what with the insanely cloudy winter last winter, and the early need for light box this year*

Oh! I do, in fact, have very high capability with the English Language. I needed a 7 ('proficient') and got 3 9s and an 8, with an overall score of 9. (9 is highest possible)

Yes, I really do know how to use the English language. The IELTS test results prove it! Oddly, the piece I got the 8 on? Reading. (I suspect that I know why; I hate those tests which tell you to label paragraphs according to the labels they have available, because I never would summarize them according to the available options)

This means that me turning 30 will not make me lower than the pass point for the visa for which I intend to apply, assuming that my skills are happily assessed as applicable.

Skills Assessment application confirmed as received. Now, up to 12 weeks until I know those results.

In order to stave off impatience and difficulty with transition states, who is surprised to learn that I'll start working on the visa application pieces now (already did some pieces, but no form filling)? Heh. Predictable, me. :)

Skills assessment to be sent in on July 21st, Perm Visa to send application for in Sept, and various other things related to get done with appropriate timing makes for a very full brain.

So does having something new, interesting, but confusing to learn and then write a test plan for at work.

But my wrists still continue to allow for strength work while working a full-time week, as long as I'm not stupid and do too much over a weekend (even having done that a couple weekends ago, I still stayed out of flare). So wrists are hopeful. But they make it a lot harder for me to visit people, and to get to work when people go on vacation. And to keep in touch with people. But hopeful. :)

And I get to see a psychiatrist on Monday to see about being allowed to use the only meds which have actually helped me sleep (I will still have some nights when I can't, but nothing like without them) _every_ night, instead of every other.

ETA: headache of multiple days appears to have been congestion, FWIW, but also may have been related to sleeping poorly. Annoying.

Because today, I am unrealistic.

What do I want for $DECEMBER_HOLIDAY?

Also, it's always interesting that I can tell how poorly I slept by how hungry I am in the morning. Sheesh. (starving? Slept for crap)

wispfox: (talk nerdy to me)
I am vaguely disturbed by _just_ how much I'm enjoying researching my intention of getting a PhD in Psychology. It's a bit difficult to find a combination of probable concentration interest (cognitive neuropsych) and topic interests (Autism Spectrum, especially NVLD, face blindness, and synesthesia are the main ones), though. ANU looks really promising (and unlike some other schools in AU I might name, are actually _replying_ to my questions), both for much research and for faculty working on potentially interesting topics.

It's somewhat annoying that, because I had insufficient information as an undergrad about the possibilities in Psych, I do not have very much psych class or research experience to draw upon when it comes time to apply. This mostly means that I need to take some classes (next fall, when doing so is less likely to be _stupid_ when combined with working and my damn wrists) between now and when it comes time to stop working, take my year off, and apply to school. Hopefully, doing so will also give me recommendation possibilities which are related to Psych. Because, right now, unless I count my mom (well... no), I don't have any. At all. This makes grad school application difficult.

Amusing, though, to have this research reminding me of such things as many tests being performed on me and my siblings, while my mom was in school for school Psych. Or the fact that I would randomly browse through the DSM-IV, because it intrigued me (some people browse dictionaries. Me? I browsed the DSM-IV). Or the fact that I went to a Psych stats course with my mom as a teen, because she thought I might be interested (I was, and baffled the professor because I was actually keeping up, for the most part).

Also very, _very_ annoying to have to limit my research and such because of my damn hands. But I'm close to being out of flare again! And I intend to remain offline during the long weekend, to get there.

Because [livejournal.com profile] redjo's answers fascinated me enough to ask for questions...

Standard instructions: Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me," and I'll ask you five questions of my choice. You post the questions and answers on your journal, include this same explanation and an offer to interview someone else.
