Many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] whispercricket, [livejournal.com profile] teinedreugan, and [livejournal.com profile] jasra for packing help yesterday, and to [livejournal.com profile] hfcougar for pre-painting wall cleaning today! I keep having an urge to thank people when I see them; when you consider that I live with [livejournal.com profile] hfcougar, it turns out that I have to bite my tongue a lot or risk being annoying.

But help! Yay help! And company! (which I also have sometimes when [livejournal.com profile] metahacker and I pack things together, like today. :)

In theeeeory, [livejournal.com profile] galaneia returns tomorrow. In practice we'll see; they've said this for three days now.

Settling in, starting to figure out where I need to put more structure (it's _so_ strange having three housemates, and living with a partner), and what I'm likely to drive myself crazy with if I'm not careful.

Main problem? Figuring out how to not over-socialize myself between work and home. At least it's summer, so I have time to adjust when I'm _not_ intensely anti-social! This includes time to play silly computer games, both social ones (WoW) and not (NWN2), read, and play outside when it's nice out. This _also_ includes time for working on grad school applications stuff. At least working from home two days a week means that I can get small tidying and such done during work breaks and lunch, and not have to do _that_ during my minimal available time. (I had no idea how much time I had due to being undersocialized!)

Beginning stages of GRE prep. I don't have to take the CS subject one, and I don't _have_ to (but probably should) take the Psych subject one.

A little too early to do much with the applications themselves. Should start essays, though.

Changing from swimming Tuesday and Friday nights to weekday mornings. Second day of this; so far, so good! Hard getting up earlier, but it does mean that I have more _time_ in the evenings. Also, getting into a habit of swimming is a really, really good thing. It's probably one of the few forms of exercise that I won't get bored with. However, it's a hard adjustment and I'm _exhausted_ in the evenings. Hopefully that will adjust.

But having more weeknight time again _should_ mean I can actually go visit people in addition to existing weekly scheduled interaction times. Which will be nice!

once escorted. Go read it.

Am suspecting that two ativan at night, while permitting me to fall asleep faster (assuming stress doesn't override them) also causes me to have much trouble getting up in the morning and being drowsy all day. Not really a fan, so back to one and taking longer to fall asleep. So far, so good.

I would like it to be a little less easy for me to get into states where I'm not functional due to stress or overwhelmedness or whatever. So, after much conversation with [livejournal.com profile] metahacker, I shall be investigating having a therp (therp! Therp! Therp! [livejournal.com profile] the_xtina, I blame you) to try to work on things which are non-urgent (my entire experience with mental health professionals up until now has been for urgent stuff). I am not really sure how I feel about this.

Starting to investigate application processes for grad school, to be ordering transcripts once I'm home and have envelopes and my checkbook and such. Am vaguely annoyed that the earliest application deadline place does not yet have available the electronic application for next year, and that one of my application places requires that you do the entire electronic application in a single setting. Ah, well.

Soon, I shall need to start taking a stab at various personal statement things. That'll be weird! I don't recall my undergrad application at all, although I'm sure I had similar things to do then.

I've two people from my two last classes at UML as potential recommenders (one would prefer not, as he did not have much interaction with me and it was entirely online, but at least one of the schools wants two in academia, and another wherever), and two boss/co-worker-type people. So I should be good on recommendations.

Settling better into new location. I always seem to forget how hard moving is on me. Which is probably good, or I might try to never move again, and usually there is good reason to do so, when I do!

And there was time with [livejournal.com profile] jasra, and it was very, very good.

We haven't really had time which wasn't involved with me packing or something in weeks.

And while today was largely involved in unpacking things and making my room more a _room_, and perhaps more _my_ room, there was still lots of being with [livejournal.com profile] jasra, who I missed very much. And wasn't really entirely aware of it, since I was so stressed.

And also... we've lived together for long enough that she _knows_ me and my habits and preferences and so can help get me un-stuck, which I very very much was with unpacking and getting settled into my room. So I needed my [livejournal.com profile] jasra to help me with my room and my organizing. And also we traded furniture for what was in her car with what I had in my room. Which had a _huge_ effect on my sanity, because it meant more bedside table space and also some drawers for things.

There was a [livejournal.com profile] jasra, there is increased sanity in my room and decorations on my walls put up with her help and her eye for decorating, and it is good.

And then there was unexpected time with [livejournal.com profile] metahacker in my dramatically improved mental state, which is why I'm up so late. Which was also very, very good. (I have been in no fit state to be around for weeks. I hate moving)

(I suspect much of why I was so wrecked Saturday - exhausted to the point of falling asleep repeatedly, cold/flu-like symptoms - is because I had my room's sanity improve Friday and stopped being on high alert. And then crashed, hard)

But now, sleep.

And eventually, wall shelving. And picture hooks or something with which to put my small white board on my wall. Because I really missed having it around to write notes to myself on!

Makes me feel like a stressed out bird who is plucking its feathers out...

My brain is crazy full of moving things.

This makes planning in April difficult!

And also, I keep forgetting things I want to post. :)

But I live! And packing things and moving things is happening!

Y'know, as someone who often has trouble knowing when people are serious, April Fool's day is just evil.

In other news, it's April! Moving month! My brain is being _eaten_ by this fact, regardless of if I can actually move things at any given moment.

*continues to succeed in not packing more things from her walls, to the probable relief of both [livejournal.com profile] jasra and [livejournal.com profile] metahacker*

Maybe tonight I'll try organizing things that I _have_ packed to make better sense for where they are going... I'm not sure there's really much of anything else I can pack until it's closer to us being moved out, so.

Oooh! I can bring things we don't want to appropriate locations... that's what I can do tonight. Makes more space, too!

Jittery girl is jittery!

I have an awful lot of friends moving in the coming weekend (one household each Sat, Sun, and Mon). Unfortunately, having _just_ finished moving, myself, I don't have the energy to help any of them... (or, for that matter, _time_ to help any of them!)

On the plus side, whatever rodent is/was in my wall was _quiet_ last night and this morning. Possibly not there anymore, I can't tell.

And my cat meowed at me _after_ I was already awake and about to get up to go to the bathroom. (still woke up more than I would have had he not meowed, but that's tolerable, where being awakened by his meowing is not)

So, not so ridiculously tired, today. Thankfully. Yesterday was rough!

Having [livejournal.com profile] ladytabitha, [livejournal.com profile] mactavish, [livejournal.com profile] deyo, and [livejournal.com profile] shanex visiting makes for a complete lack of 'hey! You should be tired and go to bed!' sleep signals for a [livejournal.com profile] wispfox. Much amusement and niftiness and death by giggles and terrible puns, not so much with the sufficient sleep. (and yay for actually spending time with [livejournal.com profile] mactavish this time! ;)

I am, according to the sleep doc, one of those rare people (she hasn't seen another true case of this in 6 years, apparently) who have 'Idiopathic Insomnia', otherwise known as sleep difficulty which has no known cause but is something which is lifelong. And, with significant worstening of symptoms in winter due to the seasonal crap. Since I don't want drugs, there's not much to be done, although I fascinated her to the point of her thinking I should be in some sort of a study relating to circadian rhythms, in the wintertime. My goal in life really _isn't_ to fascinate the medical community. Ah, well. ;)

Tonight, cleaning of the old apartment, and then I'm _done_ with the moving part of moving, and can get to the settling in and the stopping of having my brain being all moving-focused!

Landline not yet turned on at new place; on the phone with Verizon to determine why. Meh. Oh. Huh! Fun... there's something wrong with the phone line, and they're working on it. I might have a landline by the 30th, and DSL will be 5-6 days after that. *sigh*

It's _strange_ having no net access from home. But then, I've had net access at the places I've lived for... 8-ish years. If not more; I'm not sure if I had it from home my first few years in college.

It's really useful to remember to _shield_ my new place. Slept much better last night, once I realized why I was having so much trouble with getting to sleep. Also appear to have the interesting (and not altogether unexpected) ability to remotely remove a shield on a place with which I am sufficiently familiar, as I removed the shield on the Andover place from my bedroom in Woburn, and successfully transferred most of the energy and intent to the new place. Will have to reinforce the shields again, when I'm not half conscious, but it did help quite a lot.

So far, I'm liking the audio book thing, although it's a bit annoying to only have two books out at a time (considering that time includes time to get to me, back to them, and have another one sent to me). Probably not annoying enough, at least as of yet, for me to decide to upgrade to three out at a time, instead of two, since it costs more.

Construction on 495 is making it amazingly difficult to determine how long my commute would 'normally' be. It's been ~50 minutes lately, though. Hopefully it's more like 40 without the construction. Tomorrow morning, I think I attempt to avoid 495 entirely, using directions [livejournal.com profile] brynndragon constructed for me.

Andover apartment is nearly empty, which is good. Tonight, I think I empty the fridge and freezer, grabbing anything else that will fit into my car. Depending on when I arrive at Woburn, I may attempt to stop by Diesel, as I'm really missing people. Large group is better than nothing, at this point. Probably ~7:30-8, I suspect, if I make it at all. Are poly boston people even still there that late on Tuesdays? Not sure if I'll go or not, since Ash is seeming very people-deprived, himself, since I keep going to Andover to get stuff, after work, and doing a lot of unpacking when I'm home, and I have no roommate right now.

My cat's reaction to arriving at the new place was highly entertaining. There was a nearly audible 'Oh!', as he realized what all the fuss and packing and stuff was about. He _really_ wanted me to let him down as soon as I walked in the front door, even though I hadn't yet gotten into the actual apartment yet. But, when I got in and let him down (pointing upstairs, since that's where my place is, and he's pretty good at knowing not to try to go places he's not allowed), there was lots and lots and lots of investigation. And then he was pretty much fine. Probably will take a bit to completely be comfortable, but certainly much happier than he had been in Andover with most of the stuff gone.

Still some stuff to pack and move from Andover to Woburn. And some cleaning. But most of the stuff is moved and unpacked (I was very obsessive yesterday afternoon and evening, after bringing Ash over).

My legs _hate_ me for the amount of stairs I walked, moving stuff from Andover (2nd floor) to Woburn (3rd floor), all weekend. Very shaky tired, they are. And my back, shoulders, arms, and wrists aren't much happier, although less with the shaky, and more with the achy.

Was weird trying to sleep in the new place. Need to remember to put something over the windows in the exit from my apartment, as the lights in the hallways are supposed to be left on for safety, and are bright, and are visible from my bedroom. Can't close the door or Ash can't get in, but closing it partway helps.

Glad I made it to Lefton's, even if it did take me a long time to relax enough to just chill (as my brain was totally in a 'moving moving moving!' state). Was good to be social, even if in a crowd. And even if it was cold!

Was actually cold last night and this morning; I'm so glad the heat was fixed so that it wasn't constantly on! Otherwise the moving of the larger stuff would have _SUCKED_.

Oh! My couch won't fit in the apartment's entrance. So if anyone wants a couch which is located on the curb in Woburn, it's available. I don't have anywhere to store it, so I'm not going to try to sell it. Just let me know you want it, and have a way to transport it, and I'll tell you where to find it.

The movers suggested that the largest that would fit would be a love seat. For the moment, I have my chairs. I really would prefer to have a couch-like thing, since chairs aren't precisely large enough for cuddling. I'm highly unlikely to be buying a love seat, though, since it makes _no_ sense to buy something that I will only be using for 2-3 years, and I really have better things to do with my money. Ah, well. Sad lack of couch!

Oh! I remind again that I have no internet from home until the 30th! From work, only, so during the day during the work week, only.
