Ah, one of my favourite rants! The sole benefit I can see here is that the antibiotic-resistant bacteria are easier for my immune system to wipe out. And don't get me started on triclosan.
I've been railing against antibacterial crap for quite some time, especially how hard it is to find nifty soap that doesn't have it (thankfully SoftSoap makes a nice aloe-vera non-antibacterial soap that I like).
Hmm...It's a thought. I think we all like the smell. I'm nto sure how well it would deal with being in a squirt bottle, though; might be too thin, and therefore end up being used in enormous quantities (since it comes squirting out too fast).
I've yet to see it in the grocery store or the CVS, which is usually how it goes for me because I do the "crap, we're out of soap and I'll need it in the morning!" thing. Those who are less last-minute can even get them online (http://www.drbronner.com/drb_index.html).
Everything old is new again... I remember a big wave of germ-consciousness in the 60s (probably 50s too, but I wasn't around then). I remember commercials for things like Sani-Flush and Dixie Cups showing footage of bacteria under a microscope ("This is what's on the bathroom glass! Be Very Afraid!")
