Last I updated on travels, I was in Escalante, UT.

From here, we went to Zion National Park, which I was surprised to not find as interesting/pretty/impressive as Bryce. I do wonder, however, if this was affected by having not done much hiking. I mean, I'm glad I went! Just not as impressed as I'd expected.

We had a full day in Zion, so spent two nights in a nearby town. Took a bit of a breather from the insane fast pace of the previous bunch of days, previous to them heading back home.

Headed into Las Vegas to have lunch before they needed to be at the airport... and thankfully [livejournal.com profile] metahacker checked the time of the flight, because we'd been planning on the time as translated to Mountain Time, and it was in Pacific time. So we had to leave the food place RIGHT NOW, which was unfortunate! But they got to the airport on time, although from what I understand they had been moved to an earlier flight but not been told about the change, and had only barely made the flight they did know about. Glad that they were allowed to get on, considering!

From Las Vegas, I fled with great haste (v glad that we did not spend their last night here in Vegas as we did their first night here!) toward a campsite near Capital Reef. Stopped to get gas, convince my phone to stop trying to update my gps software so that I could actually use it, and check the air in my tires. Unfortunately, they did not have a gauge on their air thing, and my gauge is confused. So I _still_ don't have accurate sense of the air in the tires, and the front right tire makes noise at highway speeds sometimes (not always). Still keeping an eye out for a gas station with air with a gauge.

Got to the campsite after they had closed, but with much confusion managed to figure out which were tent sites and which were RV sites, and to find their bathroom & showers. Determined that the ice in my cooler had _long_ since melted, and so ate all of my salad fixings for dinner so as to salvage what was salvageable. (that was a large salad!)

Had a couple from Alberta, Canada show up at the site next to mine, and after they asked for some shampoo as they had left theirs at the last campsite, sat with them at their fire for a bit and chatted while I planned out my day at Capital Reef and on the way to Moab. They were very friendly. :)

Spent the morning at Capital Reef, after entirely failing to find the grocery or ice that the owner of the campsite had said I should pass on the way there, and did both the scenic drive and the natural bridge hike (2 miles round trip, lots of up and down but not too strenuous). On my way out of Capital Reef, finally managed to find a grocery and they had block ice as well. I _should_ be set for the rest of my trip, since I plan to be in Colorado Springs for a couple days before my flight, so as to send home lots of stuff. Not sure precisely how many days (should ping [livejournal.com profile] heinleinfan and [livejournal.com profile] sunstealer to find out what works for them!), in part because I'm not sure how long what I have remaining will take (I have 8 days left).

After the grocery store and a missed call from Hertz about the accident (at least they called my cell this time!), and a return call that went to voicemail (I shall try calling in the morning, since they are sounding very impatient), I continued to Moab.

Got into Moab around 6, checked into the hostel - this is easily the cheapest cost hostel I've stayed in, and not the cheapest in terms of what they have available - showered, washed clothing (also should be set on that front until I'm in CO Springs), and told my laptop to upload photos. Gave up on the flickr iphoto plugin, since it's been nuts of late. Using flickr uploader, instead. Also updated my iPhone software and wandered through recent photos to remove the ones which are clearly not necessary or are blurry.

Soon, sleep.
